Northern Ireland has the most expensive fuel

According to figures released by the AA, Northern Ireland remains the most expensive region in the UK for petrol.

The AA found that the average price for petrol is 133.8p per litre, but further pain is inflicted on diesel car owners as it's also the most expensive at 139.7p per litre.
Drivers who are expected to pay up to 5p per litre more with changes in fuel duty coming into effect on 1 April, have already suffered a price surge over the past month.

According to the AA, the Government is enjoying an extra 2.18p a litre from petrol and 2.92p from diesel, following the VAT increase at the start of the year.

This is even after a rallying stock market and the instability in the Middle East which have already boosted oil prices, bringing in substantial additional income for the Government - £1.34 million extra a day from petrol sales alone.

"With many drivers already forced to cut back on car use and petrol sales down by at least 3.4%, the fuel duty increase will not only push more drivers into road fuel poverty but undermine fuel duty revenue", says Edmund King, the AA's president.

Video: Translogic visits Switzerland to interview Jetman

Translogic visits the Jetman

While we're a little obsessed with cars here at Autoblog, our sister publication Translogic has a good habit of dispensing with terrestrial transportation entirely from time to time. This is one of those weeks, where the video crew has traveled to Switzerland - not to Geneva, but to Bex - to interview the Jetman, Yves Rossy.

Rossy is the first human to fly by means of a jet-powered wing. The Swiss pilot developed the wing over five years ago, and has since flown over the Alps, crossed the English Channel, and last year flew across the Grand Canyon.

Translogic has some great aerial footage of the Jetman, who proves to be a pretty funny interview as well. See the video below to view all of it, in full HD.

Video: Need for Speed Shift 2 moves into final gear

Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed is set to arrive in UK stores at the end of the week, and early indications are that it's something of a barnstormer.

While not operating on the same scale as Forza or Gran Turismo, the EA race simulator includes official licenses for the FIA GT1 World and GT3 European Championship, including real-world drivers, tracks and cars.

The producers are promising one of the most realistic efforts ever, and has invested a great deal of time in innovations like 'helmet cam' and some of the best-looking night racing we've ever seen. We'll know by the end of the week if the hard work has paid off.

Until then, click below to watch the game's final trailer.

Red Bull: Exhaust set-up not on the edge

Red Bull Racing has dismissed talk that its new exhaust configuration is pushing the limits of Formula 1's technical regulations, despite suggestions from rival teams that the FIA may need to look at it. The reigning world champions revealed its latest aerodynamic package on the penultimate day of last week's Barcelona test - with the exhausts situated as far forward as possible so as to help energise airflow around the Coke-bottle area of the car. The fact that there appear to be slots in the rear floor area of the RB8 has led rivals to suspect that Red Bull Racing could even be trying to direct exhaust flow into the diffuser area - something that the new regulations was supposed to have outlawed.

Video: Lexus LFA supercar meets swimsuit supermodel

We've already seen Nissan jump on the famed Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition bandwagon this week; now it's Toyota's turn.

Unlike its domestic rival, which chose to promote its dinky Juke crossover, the world's biggest car company has pulled out its biggest gun - the V10-powered, drop-dead awesome Lexus LFA.

There's no room for tongue-in-cheek humour either; this is clearly an old school beautiful car/beautiful girl photo shoot. Still, supermodel Rianne Ten Haken in a bikini and drift champ Rhys Millen in an LFA? Description done. Make with the clicky below.
